Feminist Coalition Against Prostitution (FCAP)
Imagine a world where women and girls are not for sale...
...Now let's make it real.
News! 3rd November 2009 The Lords voted in favour of Clause 14 (was Clause 13) to criminalise punters, where the prostituted person has been subject to force or coercion. See the Demand Change website for full details. This is a great first step, and puts the focus back where it should be, on the demand that fuels prostitution. Next step - decriminalise all those in the 'sex industry' - women, children and men should not be criminalised for choosing survival over poverty; those who exploit them should be. We still look forward to a Nordic style law that makes the purchase of any human being for sexual purposes a criminal act.
We are a coalition of UK Feminist individuals and groups who believe that prostitution is violence against women: We keep in touch via yahoo groups e.mail group - sign up online at: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/radicalsister. Please note - this list is moderated, membership is moderated.
Demo outside Brixton Job Centre Plus The government has responded to our petition. See the response >> We are unfunded, we welcome donations to our campaign to build a world where nobody is for sale - to make a donation to FCAP please contact for bank details: londonfeminist@yahoo.co.uk. Prostitution is exploitation: Stop the demand! FCAP supports new government proposals to criminalise men who exploit women in prostitution 'controlled by another for gain'. Although we do not believe they go far enough, we consider them an important first step. The European Women's Lobby has made a brilliant short film about prostitution: Click here to watch it online.
